From april 23rd to 25th the European Tele-Plateaus project partners TMA Hellerau (DE), REVERSO (ES) and CIANT (CZ) met in Norrköping (SE) at BitNet productions for their fourth and last workshop.

As a result of the meeting in Sweden all project partners will present an interactive, net-linked installation called “PONG”, tuedsday 25th of may. According to the correspondent, famous videogame played by large public, “PONG” treats the audience to play a virtual ball game via internet. Coloured balls will not be played with joystick or mouse, but rolled, bowled, caught and jingled between the players in the four net-linked cities by their own body activity.

Together with partners from Madrid, Norrköping and Prague the project of European Tele-Plateaus Transnational Sites of Encounter and Co-production (ETP) was launched by TMA on the occasion of CYNETart 2008. The networking of virtual environments is based on the long-term conceptual and practical activities that TMA have been pursuing in close co-operation with the systems developer Frieder Weiß. The project aims at creating virtual sites of sound and vision for public walk-in. By providing a virtual net-linked environment these sites allow sensory-physical interactions over long distances in real-time. The visitors physical activities are linked and embedded in a trans-local virtual environment. This is accomplished by the creation of so-called hyper-locations, i.e. the web-based integration of various locally significant sound and image processes.

The festival for computer-aided art CYNETART is going to present selected core themes of the Trans-Media-Akademie Hellerau (TMA) at the festival theatre Hellerau from 26th November until 6th December. Within this event insights into the interdisciplinary and intercultural ways of thinking and working will be given. The 13th international festival for computer based art CYNETART is going to provide a collective atmospheric picture for the reflection on digital culture from 26 November until 06 December 2009 at the festival theatre Hellerau. This will be done by a variety of event formats, such as Automatic Clubbing, a presentation of the output of the European Tele-Plateaus project and the first VIPA-Congress.

One thematic focus of the festival will be the testing and exploration of new telematic media applications resulting from a continuing mediatisation. This subject is the context of the European co-operation project European Tele-Plateaus - Trans-national Sites of Encounter and Co-Production. This project was started by Trans-Media-Akademie Hellerau together with partners from Norrköping (BitNet), Madrid (reverso) and Prague (CIANT) in 2008. It aims at creating virtual sound-image-spaces for the public to walk-in and inter-act in a sensate-bodily condition. This will be across long distances and within networked virtual environments in real-time. CYNETART 2009 will show the recent output of this project within “ETP_body-spaces09 - Exploration of Nearness & Distance” an experimental performance from 03 until 06 December. This performance will involve four dancers, interacting simultaneously in the partner cities, connected via internet and networked in a virtual sound-image space. The interactive environment is web-linked and divided into four parts.
